The A.M.E. tradition frames ministry around spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental need — feeding, clothing, housing, employment, care for the vulnerable, and economic advancement. Led by Pastor, Rheunnette Haire, Greater Mt. Zion extends its doors to the wider Waycross community.
Greater Mt. Zion’s doors open on more than Sunday. Through the week, the church and its partners work on the practical needs of Waycross families: a pantry shelf, a utility bill, a ride to an appointment, a résumé, a tutor, a health screening, a place to hold a public meeting.

Greater Mt. Zion is a proud member of the Okefenokee Heritage Center Museum, Black Heritage Exhibit Committee (BHEC), working together to preserve and share the history of Black Waycross and the Okefenokee region.
